The Brief
Relaunch Vitsœ’s website to attract new customers and reflect the company’s growing global customer base. The new “addictive” site should become the primary outlet for information and sales on the 606 Shelving System, as well as highlighting Vitsœ’s free online planning service. It was also important to promote the Vitsœ ethos that values sustainable design and long-term customer relationships, as well reflecting the wit and integrity of founder Niels Vitsœ (1913-1995).Our Solution
The existing Vitsœ website, with its text-heavy content, felt dated in terms of user experience. Airside decided that introducing rich media elements to the site would attract a new audience and convinced Vitsœ to tell the story of their 606 Shelving System in a two-minute animation to feature on the homepage. The film, entirely directed and animated by Airside, traces an individual’s life through their ever-growing Vitsœ collection of shelving and the contents they hold. In order to appeal to an international audience, the film features no voice-over and minimal onscreen text and uses Dee Felice Trio’s 1967 jazz classic, Nightingale on the soundtrack.
In order to explain the aesthetic and functionality of the shelving system we created a new catalogue of photos and videos, which would have prominence on the site. These rich media elements are also use to expound the Vitsœ ethos.
Taking on board Vitsœ’s motto about shelving design, “less but better”, the site design was pared back to allow the new visual content to flourish. Built on a modular grid, the minimal design also allows for the kind of flexibility that Vitsœ’s shelving systems are famous for. The site’s new spaciousness also helped draw attention to Vitsœ’s existing planning and advisory system.
